Let me start by saying, “You’re welcome!” Although we will be discussing natural flea & tick control in this post, I will spare you any images of fleas or ticks because just the idea of fleas makes me itch all over and ticks are, frankly, the stuff of horrible, frightening nightmares.  Seriously. Just, ick!

This post is sponsored by Only Natural Pet™ and the BlogPaws Pet Influencer Network™ to help spread the word about Only Natural Pet, but Sarcastic Dog only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Only Natural Pet is not responsible for the content of this article.

Living in Colorado I’m fortunate that we don’t have much of a flea problem. Note, I did not say “no flea problem”.  In fact, Colorado is home to approximately 80 different species of fleas, one of the greatest number of any state but most of the state’s flea problems occur in wildlife populations.

We have had cases of flea borne plague from prairie dogs being spread by family dogs  and we most definitely have ticks a plenty that carry any number of awful tick-spread diseases and, unfortunately, tick populations are exploding across the United States so I was thrilled to be introduced to the Only Natural Pet® EasyDefense line of safe and effective natural flea & tick control products.

natural flea and tick remedies

Piper does NOT care for fleas and ticks

ONP strives to make healthy choices easy for you and your pet so they partnered with their holistic veterinary team to design products that will repel pests, prevent bug bites and help protect pets from the illnesses that fleas, ticks and even mosquitoes can carry  – all without the use of dangerous and possibly life-threatening, conventional spot-on treatments.

The EasyDefense line of science-based treatments offers a variety of  easy to use all-natural and pesticide-free products including the EasyDefense Herbal Shampoo and Conditioner, the EasyDefense Herbal Spray, the EasyDefense Flea & Tick Tag and more!

I’m already in love with the EasyDefense Herbal Oil Blend

This blend contains almond oil, neem oil,  and several essential oils* including organic lemongrass, citronella, catnip, lavender, rosemary, clary sage & cedar. The scent reminds me of camping in the summer and application could not be easier:

Great insight and info and I so love the idea of natural repellants for my pets. I am def going to check these products out and get a kit… or more than one with all of the pets in our household!

Thanks! So far, I have been totally impressed with the Only Natural Pet products we’ve tried.

I use a very similar herb and oil blend with my dog that has lymphoma. I try to stick to natural products as much as possible.

Will have to check this out. We live in Florida with a terrible flea problem and I hate using chemicals.

    • SimonDawg June 8, 2016 at 5:55 pm - Reply

I am really loving the oil blend and the spray. Haven’t yet tried the shampoo and conditioner only because bath time around here is like a three ring circus 😉

We were about to leave after a hike and I got in the car and I saw a tick crawling on the steering wheel and I almost screamed. They’re gross creatures!

    • SimonDawg June 8, 2016 at 5:59 pm - Reply

Ticks are jerks (you know I wanted to swear like a sailor there but, keepin’ it family-friendly) I would have bombed the car and walked home 😉

Been looking for a more natural solution to F&T control…always concerned about the chemicals getting into our four legged pals. Thanks Sarcastic Dog…we will check out Only Natural Pets line of products and see what works best.

Protecting us dogs from fleas and ticks is very important, it’s great that there are natural products available for those that don’t want to use chemicals. Love Dolly

Natural repellents sound wonderful. Even though Truffle and Brulee don’t go outside, they are treated with a monthly topical treatment because we have a year-round flea problem in the South.

LOVE your pittie, and love that you are using all-natural flea repellant. We do not have a ton of issues with fleas and ticks in the city of Chicago so I love using all-natural products.

Thanks! Piper is definitely a special pup, if I do say so myself 🙂

I am completely in your corner when it comes to feeling itchy, squirmy and grossed out by fleas and ticks! I’m definitely going to check this out, because I’m looking for an all natural remedy!!

    • SimonDawg June 9, 2016 at 11:51 am - Reply

I know, right?!? Fleas and ticks are so unnecessary! I am really loving the oil blend and spray.

Thanks for sparing us the flea and tick images! One of my dogs is very sensitive to fleas, so we use a flea collar to prevent bites in the first place, I’m really intrigued by the tag although I’m a little skeptical as well. The shampoo, conditioner and spray seem like a great place to start with my dogs.

I’m looking forward to trying the shampoo and conditioner and the tag. Loving the Herbal oil ad the spray so far.

Wish I could go the natural route; I really do, but we’ve had HORRIBLE bouts with fleas and ticks where I live in Virginia. Our yard is on what used to be a farm near a river, and there are grassy fields all over. My whole family has had a tick already this spring. For now I use a preventative that kills those bugs dead. Maybe one day we’ll move to the city where it’s mostly concrete and asphalt! Bet those oils smell good!

    • SimonDawg June 9, 2016 at 11:55 am - Reply

Where you live sounds beautiful! Except for the fleas and ticks part 😉

I really like the herbal oil blend and the herbal spray. I want to try to the shampoo and conditioner next but bath time around here requires an extra set of hands… or 4 😉

Since we’ve had a flea infestation, mom is a little hinky about natural prevention. I’d love for her to find one that works.
