This post is sponsored by the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated as a BlogPaws Conference Ambassador to help share information about the BlogPaws 2018 Conference. We only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. BlogPaws is not responsible for the content of this article.
I’ll be totally honest. Before I moved to Kansas City for a new (amazing!) job this past August, Missouri was not on the bucket list. Not even a little. After six months, I can tell you that it should have been. Seriously! KCMO is an incredible gem in the Midwest. It’s an easy city to navigate, the architecture is fabulous and it’s one of the most pet-friendly places I’ve lived.
When I found out that the 2018 BlogPaws conference was being held in Kansas City this year, I was overjoyed. With the move and starting a new job, I was grateful that this year’s conference was being held in my new home city. I was even more grateful to be asked to serve as the 2018 BlogPaws Local & Zero Waste Ambassador! I feel like I’m getting to invite you all over to my new house. (Figuratively. Not literally. I love you all but that would be a tight squeeze 😉 )
If you are ready to embrace your role as an influencer and take your blog to new heights, you do not want to miss this conference.

The 10th anniversary BlogPaws conference is being held in April 2018!
There are so many exciting things planned for the 10th anniversary BlogPaws conference that I can’t possibly list them all here. The speaker line-up and agenda alone should have you rushing to complete your registration. And, what about the conference sponsors?!? This is going to be AMAZING!! BlogPaws is partnering with Chewy to bring even more inspiration, education, and extreme fun to the BlogPaws 10th Anniversary conference!
One of the most exciting things about the 2018 conference is the addition of Experiential Areas throughout the exhibit hall! Designed to highlight brands and products as they might be used with your pets, there will be a patio, a kitchen, an office, a living room and more! SO FUN!!!!
KCMO is home to 200 fountains! More than any other city in the world except for Rome!
Grab your camera and check out the City of Fountains while you are here and let us know how many you get to! There are 200 all over the city in various styles, sizes and settings.
KCMO is super pet-friendly
There are dozens of dog-friendly parks, both on and off-leash and no shortage of pet-friendly restaurant patios around town. In fact the city boasts more than 100 dog friendly hot spots! including the Red Door Bar & Grill in Brookside where Piper had her first Kansas City dog-friendly patio outing 🙂
Let’s just say that the folks in this area are VERY SERIOUS about their Barbecue – like Tonya Harding level competitive when it comes to fighting for top honors in BBQ cook-offs or sharing their favorite BBQ venues. Kansas City is known for world class award winning BBQ. (The few extra pounds I am carrying around are a testament to the fact that I’m slowly working my way through everyone’s recommendations!) There are even some fabulous vegetarian BBQ options! My personal favorite is the original Joe’s BBQ just over the border in Kansas. Anthony Bourdain included this spot as one of the “Top 13 Places to Eat Before you Die” I’ve included more suggestions in the downloadable image below. You really can’t go wrong!
I live here!
I am so honored to be serving as this year’s Local and Zero Waste Ambassador (more on the Zero Waste initiative later). My new city has so much to offer and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. From world class museums to beautiful parks, great food, fabulous music and wonderful pet friendly areas all over town, Kansas City has something for everyone.

While these are NOT PET-FRIENDLY, they are worth making time for during your visit to Kansas City.
Featuring live music seven nights a week, The iconic Green Lady Lounge is an exclusively Jazz lounge featuring Kansas City Jazz musicians in the rich Kansas City tradition. Free of televisions you can focus on incredible music, atmosphere and conversation.
The “secret” Manifesto speakeasy located in the basement of the restored Rieger Hotel has truly outstanding artisan cocktails.
An architectural masterpiece Union Station Kansas City is a former working train station now dedicated to science education, celebration of community and preservation of history.
River Market holds City Market, dating to 1857, where you’ll find “casual global eateries, gourmet grocery stores and indie boutiques surround pavilions hosting a weekend farmers’ market.” At one end you’ll also find the Arabia Steamboat Museum that displays paraphernalia salvaged from a ship that sunk in the Missouri River in the mid-19th century.
With more than 50 unique restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment venues, the Power & Light District is a major evening hotspot!
AND, the Doughnut Lounge because…Doughnuts & Cocktails. Enough said.
As I mentioned, I am the 2018 ZERO WASTE Ambassador for the conference, which means I will be asking everyone who attends the conference to join me in making the conference as green as possible and will be encouraging everyone to help BlogPaws achieve it’s goal of being a Zero Waste conference. Much more on this later but for now, below is a jpeg of recommended restaurants, pet-friendly patios, veterinarians, museums and more. Rather than printing the list on paper, I encourage you to bookmark this page and download the image below to your phone for easy reference while planning your trip and throughout the conference. I couldn’t fit everything on the image so feel free to bookmark this page so you can find it easily if needed.
Have Questions About the Conference or About Kansas City?
Ask away in the comments! I’ll do my best to answer your questions. If I don’t know, I’ll track down someone who does. Hope to see you all at the conference 🙂
